Aim

This project is to help people and planet through connection to nature and creation of habitat through wildlife gardening.

Over the past few years I have been offering sessions to help people connect with nature because nature connection is fantastic for physical and mental wellbeing and because we protect what we care about. Sadly the UK is one of the most nature-deprived countries in the world, with many once-familiar species now rapidly declining in numbers. There are many great stories though of how human connection with nature is making a difference - particularly in urban areas.

We are hoping to engage communities with nature through connection with their local wildlife, through discovering who they share their spaces with and how to do more to help.

Throughout June we will be offering free suggestions for activities to help connect with nature and to understand our local connections and spaces and how to help wildlife as well as improving our own wellbeing.

We want to keep these activities free for all but we do incur costs for insurance, websites etc. In addition, we would like to purchase equipment such as a moth trap (a way to attract moths so that we can identify them, enjoy them and safely release them). The equipment will help with engagement but also with identifying species that are both present and absent to inform decisions (e.g. in terms of plants and habitat features). The moth trap would be available for the community to loan.
