If we exceed my initial target, i would like to use the additional funds to pay for the production of a short film highlighting some of the processes behind the making of my products (where i do it, how i do it, why i do it), perhaps also including a short tutorial on how you can make a product of your own.
To raise the funds to progress my natural baby skincare range. I'd like to fund cosmetic safety testing, approval and launch of my 100% natural baby bottom balm.
I started my little business a few years ago when my first son was only a few months old. I struggled to find products that were safe enough, gentle enough and natural enough for his very sensitive little body. In response I started a course of study, and found myself a studio, and began experimenting with natural oils and butters. Since then i have created a range of lovely little products for our lovely little ones. Some of my products have received awards from The Green Parent national beauty review, i was chosen to represent 'Small Business Saturday' this year, I have featured in a book about good branding for natural cosmetics and I also now write for The Mother magazine. I am an Occupational Therapist by trade, and i use these skills as much as possible in my skincare venture. I work with other local businesses, artists and community groups, give talks, have run workshops for adults with learning difficulties (teaching participants how to make soaps and other bath products) and hope to expand Bare Bodycare to be able to offer volunteering and work experience placements for people that might otherwise struggle to find work. I work with a local vocational project (that supports adults with learning difficulties) to complete all of the printing i need for my stationery and labels. My website was also designed by a student at the same project.
Since the birth of my first son, and the birth of Bare bodycare, i have had another little boy. I created the baby bottom balm recipe for him and it keeps his little bot tip top. I would love to raise some funds to have this bottom balm recipe tested and safety approved by a cosmetic chemist, to have some packaging and labels designed and some photgraphs taken, and be able to add it to my range of lovely natural baby skincare goods.
I've had a fair bit of interest in my natural 'nappy cream' AKA baby bottom balm, and hope it will complete my lovely baby range. I have made donations in the past to a local Mother and Baby unit, and if this campaign is successful, I'd love to donate some of this product too.
Every success that Bare Bodycare experiences puts me one step closer to being able to provide work for another person. I am excited about the prospect of the business growing, developng and blooming even more - and therefore being able to change the lives of others - both baby and adult.
