I'm running for The People's Recovery Project, a charity that exists to make recovery from homelessness or addiction achievable.
Right now, there are people experiencing homelessness and addiction who don't have the support they need to overcome their circumstances.
The People’s Recovery Project was conceived to build a community with the knowledge and understanding to support people through transformational recovery journeys.
This cause matters to me personally, as I have seen people I love have their lives destroyed by substances that are readily available on the supermarket shelf. It can be challenging for the individuals stuck in these situations to see a way out of it, and they need constant support to maintain the path needed to make a full recovery. The work that TPRP does to treat addiction and sustain recovery for people experiencing homelessness and addiction is underpinned by its focus on community and social inclusion: Building the support network needed for people to achieve and sustain recovery.
I know addiction in particular is something many of you will be personally familiar with. No one has to struggle alone, whether at home or on the streets; we all deserve help.
By donating to this cause and supporting me in the Hackney Half Marathon, you will be helping people take the steps they need to transform their lives.
