To upgrade and redesign the neglected community plot at National Avenue allotments, for use by our community and local schools.
Hello! Thank you for taking a look at our fundraising page for the 'revamp' of the neglected community plot, situated at National Avenue Allotments in the heart of Kingston upon Hull.

The committee of National Avenue Allotment Society are Sarah, Val, Pam, Debra and Andy. We're all allotment holders, we're all community focussed and we all love nature. You can find us down at the allotments in all weathers.
We're there to act in the best interests of an on-site community of over 100 plot-holders and their various gardening helpers. As well as growing food, allotments are about growing communities. This is something we strongly believe in.

One of our passions is encouraging school visits to the site, so that teachers can use our facilities to help young people learn about how to grow plants and food for themselves, highlighting the vital connections between wildlife, our environment, the seasons and the food we eat.

Our community plot is the space where we host school visits and community events. It's where we grow plants for sale to support the up-keep of the site and it's also where people meet, chat and get to know each other. At least, that's what it should be. Sadly after years of neglect and a lack of development, the facilities are no longer up to the job.

The whole area needs to be redesigned to function more effectively, be more accessible and as versatile as possible. Polytunnels need repairing or replacing, the greenhouse requires repairs, there is no suitable seating or hard standing for large groups. Raised beds, compost areas, drainage and rainwater harvesting all need updating.

A pond, wildflower/meadow areas, no-dig demonstration beds. Bee houses, bug hotels and native planting are required to help demonstrate the links between food and nature.

Added together these improvements would vastly enhance the community plot and our ability to support and nurture both community and wildlife. Whether it's a coffee morning for our plot-holders, a seed-swap open-day for the local community or pond-dipping as part of a school visit. It's all possible with a little help from you.

For every £1 you donate Aviva & Wild Isles will give us £2 towards our target.
So if you are able to help us reach our target we'd be grateful - thank you so much!
We also need help to reach out to more people, so that we can achieve or even exceed our target. If you could share the link to this page on your social media, that would be really kind of you.
