Please support Music for Good to roll out more Music for Wellbeing projects across Cornwall, improving health inequalities and social inclusion.

“Singing in front of people again. I’ve been scared for a while. My confidence is getting there.”

We support people of all ages with their physical, mental and social health and wellbeing through music. Our vision is to create a world where we understand and value each other within a landscape of learning that is person centred. We believe in the power of music and singing to achieve personal, social and creative growth.

We work with all ages, and deliver programmes in Education, Community and Health settings and we work in partnership with other organisations to ensure we work within a strict safeguarding framework and reach the people who need our provision the most.

We are experts in providing music provision which is trauma and mental health informed and specialise in working with adults and young people who struggle to access other creative and social provision due to their isolation, poor physical and mental health, poor wellbeing or because of other difficult lived experiences.

We currently deliver our music for wellbeing programmes in community health hubs, GP Surgeries, secondary care settings, schools, youth settings and other community spaces.

We want to deliver more of both our 1:1 and group music provision work in Redruth, Camborne, St Austell and North Cornwall. This will build on the relationships and partnerships we already have as well supporting us to develop new networks. It will involve specialist singing for health provision, 1:1 music mentoring including recording and music production, family attachment work, and group creative music ensemble delivery.

Through this provision we will support people to:

  • Improve their wellbeing and health
  • Build their self-confidence and advocacy
  • Connect to their local communities and services
  • Get active, learn new skills and build positive relationships
  • Link with other local people with shared interests

We build inclusive, sustainable, high quality music making provision led by skilled and supported practitioners that work in collaboration with communities, partners and individuals. We work within a robust ethical and safeguarding framework and we see amazing outcomes for the people who access our services.

What will your support go towards?

  • The setting up of new partnerships and programmes
  • Supporting existing delivery
  • Project Management and Evaluation related to these programmes
  • Music practitioner fees and training and support for our staff
  • Core costs such as venue hire and insurance
  • Marketing and recruitment
  • The purchase of equipment such as musical instruments
  • Travel bursaries where this is an additional barrier for those accessing our provision
