Aim

Help me to raise money for our community Street-Band -for children- by organising a unique concert on the Yealm estuary Sun 27th of December

The Newton & Noss community Street-band group :

Chairman Tom Edie

As a professional Brass player and Street-Band specialist for 20 years, I've created a Street-band for the young children of our community, in January 2019. With the support of the primary school (where I teach Brass instruments) and some parents, we have managed to get some grants to buy instruments and to start the project, free of charge for the children. We meet every week in the school, for a one hour session with 15 young musicians.

The aim is for the children to have equal access to music, to a variety of different instruments, and a great opportunity to play in a band. The great advantage of a Street-Band is that we can play acoustic and everywhere, as it's composed only with carried instruments. After this pandemic we should be able, at last, to play for some local events such as the school Prom in the park, the Apple day, the Regatta,… (all idea will be considered ;)

By launching this crowdfunding project the aim is to help to keep this experience free for the children for the future, and to buy some new instruments for them to access. If we raise more than the target, I will open an additional workshop for the younger children in Key Stage one.

The concert :

Sunday the 27th of December, 2pm-ish

In these difficult times, we all need some fun.. and as I professional musician, I need to play ! It's so difficult not to be able to be on stage anymore…but a boat is better !

So, the idea here is to perform my One-Man-Street-Band Show on a moving boat (thanks to Mike and Nigel of the River Yealm Mooring Services). Live music from the Pontoon to Bridgend, via Noss creek. You should be able to hear me from shore, from your home or come on your own boat and follow me !

The premise of the show came during the first Lock-down : digging out my old loop-pedal, I explored its possibilities with all my Brass instruments, percussions and bits and pieces. Then did a solo performance every Thursday 8pm with a new tune for the NHS, in my front garden.

Encouraged by the public, coming more and more to see me in the Fairway, I transformed this experimentation into a One-Man-Street-Band show !

Of course this concert is weather and covid dependent and would be re-schedule in case of bad weather (rain or strong wind or Lockdown..).
