We Make Music Instrument Libraries

Hello everyone – we wanted to send you a Christmas update on the instrument libraries and say another thank you for helping to get them up and running!

We are delighted that the project is catching on and growing – since launching the crowdfunder we have managed to get over 150 instruments serviced and distributed to nine libraries in Fife, North Ayrshire and Edinburgh, and these are all now being loaned out as part of their services.  We are also very excited that several more libraries are planning to join us next year, including Blackridge and Armadale libraries in West Lothian, Kilbirnie library in N. Ayrhsire and Hawick library in the Scottish Borders.

Music Workshops, Gigs in Libraries, and other plans

We have also started running some music workshops and events in the libraries for people to take part in. These have helped people to get interested in playing and learning music, and the number of instruments being used and taken out of the library is increasing!  We’re applying for some funding to support more of these workshops in the new year and will let you know how this goes.

We’ve also been developing an online resource for people to access from home, and we are planning couple of gigs and concerts in the libraries in the new year too, so keep in touch and hope to see you there!

Christmas Call-Out for Musical Instruments

With new libraries joining the programme and more music happening in the libraries, the demand for musical instruments is growing! As a result, we are doing a Christmas call-out for instruments – if you know anyone who might have an instrument lying around that they would like to donate it to the libraries, please let us know by contacting [email protected]!
