Help us take Murder Ballads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
After two sell-out runs at Liverpool's Royal Court Studio, Murder Ballads by Gerry Smyth is making it's Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut @ Lime Studio, Greenside Venues, Nicholson Square.
Beginning as an idea by writer Gerry to create a narrative around the cult album, we have since been overwhelmed by the incredible reception from our audiences, and want to reach as many people as possible - what better place to do this than the Fringe?!
A hybrid of music, theatre and cabaret, audiences should expect a raucously entertaining evening full of ballads, blood baths and bar brawls, and the highest death count you'll experience at the theatre!
Millhaven, West Texas, 1882. The regulars of O’Malley’s Bar invite you to a dark comedy cabaret. This is an original musical stage adaptation of the album released by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Praise For Murder Ballads:
“Taking Nick Cave’s cult album only as a starting point, Murder Ballads weaves its darkly comic tales together so skilfully that the songs and the stories seem always to have belonged together. For a couple of hours we really are transported to a small west Texan town in the days of the Old West. This production’s charismatic leads hold the audience throughout, while the tales linger long in the mind.” – Joe Moran, Guardian Columnist
“One of the best experiences in a theatre for as long as I can remember.”
“Murder Ballads tonight at the Royal Court was, for me, phenomenal. Well done to director and writer as well. Seriously this show needs to be picked up. Thank you for an amazing night.”
All money raised will go towards the venue hire, accommodation and travel to Edinburgh. We would really appreciate any support!
THANK YOU!
