Two Murals for Honor Oak Park

Aim

Support me to bring two colourful murals to Honor Oak Park Station, celebrating the creativity, diversity and energy of our local community.

I am Kathrin, a Swiss artist and designer based in Honor Oak (London!)

I’m bringing two new murals to Honor Oak Park Station and I’d love your support.

The idea started with the two big empty walls around the station. I kept thinking how great it would be to have something colourful and playful there. Something that would give you a little lift when you arrive in Honor Oak.

So, in July last year, I started getting in touch with the council and Network Rail to see if I could make it happen.

What started as a simple idea turned into more than a year of conversations, testing designs, etc. I really believed the walls could bring something special to the neighbourhood, so I kept going.

And now, finally, I have permission from Network Rail to paint them. I am SOO excited!!!

What the murals are about

Honor Oak is such a creative, lively place and full of interesting people. It’s also a bit of an “unexpected” place. I wanted to make that visible and create something that captures the energy of the people who live here.

My work is abstract it’s less about what you see and more about what it makes you feel.

I want the murals to become a visual statement for the neighbourhood: something you see as soon as you come out of the station and think, “Yes, this is Honor Oak.”

Most of all, I hope they bring a little lift to the neighbourhood and celebrate the people who make Honor Oak what it is.

Where your support goes to

I’m so excited to finally get started and bring them to life! 

I’ve set up this crowdfunding campaign as a way for people who like the idea of these murals to support the project and to help cover materials, traffic management, license from the Council, Painting and the time I’m putting into making them happen.

As an independent artist, having some support for the work behind the project would mean a lot to me.
