Aim

SAVE MUNCHKINS PLAY CAFE We have a plan but we need your help to survive...If you love or ever have loved Munchkins, please read on!

What?

We want to transform Munchkins into a Community Interest Company in order to save it from extinction!  After working for the last year without any wages to try to keep our fantastic family cafe alive, as the owners, we have come to a point where we need your help to rescue Munchkins.  We still love our cafe and want to give it, as a gift, to our community so all funds from this project will be used to make this happen.  The time required from the owners to implement this will be given with a glad heart at no cost to the project.  This is about the love, as it has always been!

Why?

We have been inspired by you, our amazing local families to try to accomplish this feat rather than just closing the doors and saying goodbye to a place that has been held so dear by so many.  We will be able to continue to work in partnership with organisations we already have strong links with including the library, the NHS, local schools and pre-schools, many local businesses and 'parentpreneurs' and the fantastic groups that use our upstairs space from first aid to music and many local support groups.  We want to carry on being a nurturing local employer and a place where you can find kindness, support, friendship, fun and great coffee.  We have grown to realise we are about more than just a cuppa...

How?

We have a plan to transform our traditional business model, which is no longer sustainable, into a Community Interest Company.  We will hand it over to the community we have become such a part of and alleviate some of the pressures caused by current economic conditions such as business rates, allowing the team to raise funds through grants to continue to improve and grow whilst keeping the day to day self funding aspect we have already accomplished.  To do that successfully and set Munchkins on the path to longevity, we need your help.  If each of our Facebook friends was able to commit just ten pounds,  it would be the boost we need to take Munchkins into a new era and ensure the cafe remains at the service of our local families for years to come.

We will treat the community as stakeholders with regular meetings, a board of volunteer trustees to oversee the future of Munchkins and a pay-it-forward culture where everyone is looked after with ideas like facilitating a kindness bank of small acts of kindness that can be shared throughout our community, helping parents develop confidence getting back to work and providing opportunities for creative and physical development for all our little customers.
