We're still collecting donations

On the 7th February 2024 we'd raised £3,091 with 10 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

With the money raised we can ensure that the shelves of the Munch Community Food Pantry will always be full.

We will help our community by providing more healthy meal sessions.

We will provide cooking on a budget sessions.

We will support the provision of meals for more accompanying parents and toddlers whilst eligible children attend the funded holiday activity programme.

In 2017 we introduced the Munch Community Food Programme at Park Community School. Providing free hot meals to our community every day in the holidays, term time Tuesday and Thursday evenings and fortnightly on a Sunday, we are able to ensure families have a hot nutritious meal. It is well documented that good food and nutrition helps children maintain good health, supporting ability to concentrate at school.

We need your help to ensure we reach more families.

The area of Leigh Park is one of most deprived wards in the UK, where many families are struggling with the cost of living, and find themselves  with insufficient food to feed their families, with many parents often going without to feed their children.  We therefore ensure we provide a cooked meal for the whole family not just children in receipt of free school meals, making mealtimes a family occasion and also provide a cooked meal for anyone who needs it on the most special day of the year...Christmas Day!

To complement our free offer, we also now have the Munch Community Food Pantry in which anyone is welcome to come along and pay £5 and choose approx £20 worth of food from cupboard staples and chilled or frozen items plus choose any free fruit and vegetables to feed their families.

Due to increased demand we need your help to enable us to feed more families.

We also help signpost our community to specialist services that are there to support and  which may help them to be able to improve their lives.

Debbie a Leigh Park resident who visited a recent cost of living support event held at the centre, remarked she had been struggling with her energy bills ever since her husband had lost his job. She was unaware that there were social tariffs for water and broadband, and said the money saved would definitely help support reducing her energy bill debt. The advisor at the session gave her suggestions of who to contact to reduce her direct debits, making life less stressful. Debbie who was close to tears when she came in, left having had a nice coffee (and complimentary piece of cake made by volunteers) with a smile at the end.

Our pantry is more than just about the food!

At weekends we also offer heavily subsidised trips out for young people, visiting areas they otherwise would not be able to afford to go to, giving them opportunities to try and take part in a whole array of activities.
