MumBloom 2.0 - gifts for mums that actually help

Aim: I’m crowdfunding to build MumBloom 2.0 - a gifting platform that actually helps the overlooked heroes - mums.

MumBloom exists because mums get forgotten way too much.

It’s a gifting website allowing people to buy gift vouchers for mums, letting them take a break by redeeming the voucher to choose a bit of help or care from a local business - because no one works harder than a mum.

Services offered on MumBloom include:

• Help at home, like cleaning, laundry and ironing
• Home-cooked meal deliveries
• Wellbeing treatments at home or out of the house, from haircuts to massages
• And all sorts of treats, big and small

So much of the work mothers do goes unseen, so MumBloom is on a mission to help people understand why mothers should be supported, and make it super easy for them to do exactly that.

By supporting this crowdfunder, you’ll be helping me to grow MumBloom into a force that will bring the hidden work of motherhood out into the open, finally giving mums some of the recognition they rarely ask for, but definitely deserve.

Where’s this money going?

Here’s what the money from this crowdfunder will go towards:

• A sleek new website, showing we mean business
• A new “MumBloom Gifting Hub” with tools creating a more tailored and personal gift selection process than anywhere else online
• Professional web development and UX design to make it a completely seamless and enjoyable experience
• Build of back-end systems (like a new seller dashboard) to prepare for scaling MumBloom nationwide
• Promotional activities to get the buzz going at the launch of MumBloom 2.0 and get it off to the best possible start, making sure the lovely friends, partners and family members who might want to buy a gift know where to go

I’d love to be in with a chance to win the grand £10,000 prize in the Built By Her initiative run by Muddy Stilettos and Crowdfunder, which will enable the start of scaling across the country - hopefully with the help of some mums working freelance on their phones around their kids’ nap times (how MumBloom was - and is - built!). To be eligible, I need to raise at least £1,000 on this crowdfunder by the end of July - although I’m hoping we can manage more so we can let MumBloom 2.0 be its full best self!

Who wins out of MumBloom?

1. Gift givers everywhere can feel amazing about avoiding the cute trinkets that end up in a little pile of stuff you don’t know what to do with, and giving a gift that research shows time and time again is what mums actually want (more time back!)

2. Mums - of course. If you find yourself going “do you have any idea how much I do?!” on repeat, MumBloom is about to start advocating for you HARD, making sure the people around you understand more about what it’s really like, and showing them how to give back.

3. Finally, local businesses, big time! One thing that stood out to me as I was coming up with MumBloom was just how many brilliant local businesses offer services that mums would find SO useful, but are not necessarily reaching mums, or offering a gifting option. MumBloom bridges that gap, connecting mums and the businesses that can help.

Why donate?

I hope I’ve convinced you that MumBloom is a mission worth sparing a bit of your hard-earned cash for, but I also want to show my appreciation for any and every donation with some rewards. 

So here’s what we’ve got:

• Donate £10 and your name will be immortalised on the website in MumBloom 2.0 in the Hall Of Fame Of Fabulous People Who Helped This Come To Life (still workshopping that title)
• Donate £35 and you’ll receive a stunning limited edition prints by much-loved painter and illustrator May van Millingen, created especially for this campaign and not available anywhere else or at any other time. There are four available, so collect the whole set!
• Donate £250 and a product collection of your choice will be named after you on the website (forever and always)
• Donate £750 and I will quite literally take a day off work and come and be your servant for the day - no task too big or small (probably)
• Some amazing other rewards donated by the lovely MumBloom community - only one available of each so if you see one you fancy, snap it up quick!
