 New stretch target

Any additional money raised will be channelled in to production costs of exhibitions resulting from the residency at An Lanntair, Stornoway and Edinburgh College of Art

*FOR PICTURES OF REWARDS SCROLL TO BOTTOM! :)

I have been offered a fantastic last-minute opportunity , this August, through a two week residency with An Lanntair, Stornoway & Sail Britain to investigate historical and cultural links between the Western Isles (Scotland) & West Penwith (Cornwall) where I have been making work for the last few years.

I am interested in learning more of the role that the sea roads have played in connecting this landscape to other cultures on the Atlantic seaboard throughout Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age and the role played by these maritime connections in disseminating culture, language and traditions.

Work resulting from this residency will be shown at group exhibitions at An Lanntair, Stornoway and at Edinburgh College of Art.

Why am I asking for your money?

I am looking to raise money for the production of artworks for the exhibitions resulting from the residency and associated travel costs. You will be contributing to a project of genuine cultural worth.

While the residency is part subsidised by An Lanntair and I have met these costs from my own limited funds there are very considerable further costs incurred in travel and the production of work for exhibitions resulting from the residency.

The more money I raise the better the presentational quality of the works at exhibition and the more I will be able to participate in the production of those exhibitions and to raise the profile of the project.  I am not looking to turn a profit here but to make something of real cultural value.

I am in receipt of no public funding for this venture.

Example costs:

A single framed 12x16” work to museum standard - £150+

25 Sheets 5x4” photographic film - £50+

Return transport to Stornoway - £400 +

Rewards

I am approaching this crowdfunder very much like an old fashioned print sale to raise money for an artist’s venture. Rather than asking for straight-up charitable funding as in some crowdfunding exercises – though please feel free, if you wish! - I am proposing to reward you for your donations with existing works at a very reasonable price!

Thank you to everybody who has pledged so far and made this residency possible without my plunging into abject penury! Your support is truly appreciated and I look forward to getting the works delivered to you in September.  Please not I am away on the residency from 11/08/17 - 26/08/17 and will not be in regular email contact.  Thanks again! William

Some rewards still availble - please note both Tin-can Firmament rewards are sold out despite one still showing as available.
