To create a permanent memorial at Robertsbridge Community College honouring beloved teacher Ms Louise Thompson, who served here for 27 years
We were deeply saddened by the recent passing of Ms Louise Thompson, aged just 59 - a teacher who gave 27 extraordinary years of service to Robertsbridge Community College.
Ms Thompson joined RCC in April 1994 as a Teacher and later Head of History, before going on to become Head of Key Stage 3 - a role she held for several years, overseeing and supporting pupils in Years 8 and 9. Her passion for her subject was infectious, and she inspired learning in so many memorable and creative ways.
Many former pupils will remember poignant visits to the battlefields of Ypres in Belgium and the Imperial War Museum in London. Others will have enjoyed trips to the Tower of London and the musical adaptation of Oliver! in the West End. And who could ever forget the annual history celebration - particularly the year the 1970s was chosen for special attention!
Ms Thompson left the school in May 2021 after 27 years of dedicated service, to spend more time with her family and her much-loved pets. But her impact never left. We estimate she touched the lives of at least 3,500 students over her career - as an inspirational teacher, a compassionate Learning Mentor, and a tireless champion for young people. She embodied the nurture, ambition and learning excellence at the heart of RCC, always delivered with her legendary sense of humour!
We want to honour her memory with something lasting - a permanent memorial within the school grounds where she is remembered by the generations of students still to come.
If Ms Thompson's teaching, warmth, or humour ever touched your life, we'd love your support in making this happen.
