Aim: Maths teacher Ms Dickinson is raising money for the TGS community athletics track as it is such an important facility for so many.

As Yorkshire High Jump Champion and having represented County in both High Jump and Triple Jump, and England in the Triple Jump in my teens, I know the importance of having good facilities to practice, and to take part in competitions. As I was competing my local running club didn't have a track for training so we travelled each week from Bingley to Leeds or York.  Having a track to the quality of the planned refurbished track and high/long jump facility in Tadcaster would have made a huge difference to me.

After recovering from a bad foot injury, I have only recently been able to start hiking again and so have decided to take on the Wainwright Challenge and try raise some money in sponsorship towards the fundraiser the school where I teach Maths.

Myself and 3 friends; Kerry, Katie and Sophie, are heading up to the Lake District for the weekend of 5th and 6th July.  We will be covering a distance of 23.5km (14.6miles) to an ascent of 2091m (equivalent to 1 1/2 Ben Nevis').

Our route over 1 1/2 days takes us to:

  • Blea Rigg;
  • Sargeant Man;
  • High Raise;
  • Pavey Ark;
  • Harrison Stickle;
  • Loft Cragg;
  • Scafell Pike; and:
  • Tarn Cragg.

The weather forecast so far is favorable and I'm sure we will have lots to chat about as we 'get our steps in'.

Please consider donating towards this fantastic fundraiser - it will really mean a lot to me.  Thank you!
