To set up a fund that is ready to help a rescue volunteer at a moments notice when it is needed most.
The nature of the terrain in Glencoe means that nearly every rescue the team responds to involves an element of risk to the team members. When someone is lost, injured, or fighting for their life in the steep, unforgiving terrain of Glencoe, local mountain rescue volunteers will respond without hesitation no matter the weather conditions, day or night throughout the year.
But when something happens, and it has, and a volunteer is injured during a rescue and suddenly unable to work, the support they need isn’t always there quick enough. Insurance can take a long time to process, and even then it only covers around 60% of lost earnings. That remaining 40% deficit still has a significant impact for the individual and their family. Not only that but if the worst were to happen, then we also want to see that their families have the support they need.
That’s why we set up Mountain Rescue Benevolent Fund (Glencoe), Charity Registration No. SC05243. To be able to step in immediately when a volunteer needs help is so important and it ensures no rescue volunteer or their family is left struggling.
Your donation, no matter the size, helps give these volunteers peace of mind when they head out that there is full support ready for them should it ever be needed.
If you can, please donate. It truly makes a difference.
