Support our friends at Seated Furniture as they embark on an epic journey to climb Mount Snowdon in aid of SNMH.
Mental Health Affects 1 in 3 of us at one point in our lives. Together we can help those when they are most in need.
With your support we can help clients like Sarah and Gary.
Sarah lives at home with her partner and 3 young children. Growing up she was physically abused by her father and bullied at school. She is on medication for depression and has various health issues.
Sarah was passed our leaflet from her GP surgery. It took her a lot of courage to make the 1st step to send an email to us to ask for help. Our Toolbox worker supported Sarah in learning distraction techniques and grounding exercises to help her with her anxiety and bad thoughts as well as linking her in with many local services to help her. Sarah was so grateful and now realises that that she has made the hardest step to ask for help.
Gary got in touch with SNMH as he was suffering from depression and had been experiencing suicidal thoughts. As an ex-serviceman, Gary felt ashamed that addiction problems had affected his life. Gary hadn’t showered for weeks and was run down; his self-care had left him feeling very low and worthless. Our Toolbox worker spent time with Gary talking through his situation. She connected him with the local mental health team who assigned him a new CPN and organised a mentor from ‘Care After Combat’ to help him get back on his feet again. We will keep in touch with Gary to support him in his journey.
Staffordshire Network for Mental Health helps people affected by mental health by providing one to one support through our ‘Toolbox’ project. We also provide workshops to help people understand mental health and learn coping mechanisms to manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, low confidence and self-esteem.
