Aim
Creating a theatre & community hub in Morpeth for performances, workshops & events that bring people together through the arts.
Greater Morpeth Development Trust (GMDT) is a charity dedicated to the growth and enrichment of Morpeth. For years, it has been our ambition to establish a theatre and arts hub in the town — a place that not only celebrates creativity but also strengthens our community.
Our vision is to create a vibrant, welcoming venue where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together through performance, workshops, cinema nights, and community events. This space will serve as both a cultural centre and a home for local groups, fostering connections between young people, older residents, and underrepresented communities.
To make this vision a reality, we now need your help. The next step is to raise funds to purchase and redevelop a suitable building in Morpeth. This includes:
- Conducting vital surveys to ensure the building is fit for use
- Securing the purchase
- Redeveloping the space into a fully functioning theatre
Renovations will involve reinstating the original entrance, building a stage, and installing the necessary equipment to support live performances and community events.
