With your help, we aim to kickstart our CIC with a programme of grassroot live music events throughout 2026!
We are Morley Live — brought to life by creatives, for the sake of creativity. Family-built and made from the ground up, Morley Live sits at the heart of Morley, proudly contributing to the wider Leeds music scene.
What was once a bank has been transformed into a cosy, welcoming café/bar, grassroots music venue, and community-focused music school. You probably wouldn’t guess our building’s past when you walk in — but you will feel the energy straight away.
For us, music isn’t just something you listen to — it’s something you experience. It’s the buzz before a first gig, the joy of a packed Saturday night show, the confidence built in a lesson room, and the feeling of a community coming together. Morley Live exists to be that starting point: a safe, creative home for artists, audiences, and learners alike.
A CIC (Community Interest Company) is a type of business designed to benefit the community. It reinvests its profits back into social, cultural, or community projects rather than paying them to private owners, helping to ensure the organisation exists to serve people and the community first.
Becoming a CIC means we are officially structured to serve the community first. Any profits we make are reinvested back into local music, education, events, and opportunities. In short, it helps protect what we do and ensures Morley Live exists for the benefit of the community, now and in the future.
We are a grassroots music venue championing small, independent musicians across all genres (our team is proudly the most genre-fluid team ever). Every week, our bar space comes alive with gigs that platform incredible talent from across the North — and sometimes even further afield. These shows aren’t just gigs; they’re opportunities for artists to grow, connect, and be heard. We even host creative networking events to help performers and artists build relationships with others in their field.
When we’re not putting on live music, we use our space for fundraising events that support causes close to our hearts, especially mental wellbeing and creative freedom for all. Community has always been at the core of what we do, and we believe music is one of the most powerful tools for bringing people together.
We host many local classes including exercise, baby and toddler and dance groups. We also welcome home education groups in the local area to have socials in our cafe and learn music in our music school.
Alongside our venue, Morley Live is also a music school rooted in education, accessibility, and confidence-building. We teach an array of instruments and musical practices to people of all ages and abilities. Our tutors use the power of musical magic to help students build confidence, resilience, and self-belief — not just technical skill. So much self development can be learned from music.
Whether someone dreams of becoming the next big thing in Morley’s music scene or just wants to try something new, we’re here to support that journey.
Despite how vital grassroots music spaces like ours are, the industry remains hugely underfunded and undervalued. Rising costs and limited funding opportunities make it increasingly difficult for independent venues to survive — even though we are often the lifeblood of local music scenes.
This Crowdfunder will help us keep Morley Live thriving. Funding will support everything from creative ideas through to finished events: improving sound and production, marketing gigs and workshops, maintaining our space, and — most importantly — paying grassroots musicians fairly. Music shouldn’t run on goodwill alone.
With your help, we can:
Every contribution goes straight back into local music, local creatives, and the people who make this scene what it is.
Grassroots venues are disappearing at an alarming rate. When they go, we don’t just lose stages — we lose launchpads. Many artists Leeds is proud of started out in small rooms like ours, playing to intimate crowds and learning their craft. Without spaces like Morley Live in towns like Morley, those stories never get started.
This Crowdfunder isn’t just about keeping the lights on — it’s about protecting creativity, culture, and community.
Whether you come down for a pint and a dance, an oat milk latte and a slice of cake, or to learn an instrument and find your confidence, Morley Live is here for you. By supporting this Crowdfunder, you’re backing local artists, local culture, and a community that believes music should be for everyone.
We can’t wait to meet you, welcome you into our space, and make memories together.
Love, Morley Live x
