Morgan’s Butchers and Loaf Bakery have served our community for generations. They want to keep doing so. But recent parking and loading restrictions, alongside ongoing legal action brought by a new local resident, are making it increasingly difficult to trade.
The challenges go well beyond customer parking. They affect when the shops can receive deliveries and have waste collected, where the owners can park behind their premises, and more. The owners have tried to arrange deliveries after 7.30 am, as demanded, but their suppliers cannot guarantee those times.
The parking changes have also made it harder for many of us to shop locally. Morgan’s reports that its revenue has fallen by 30% since the restrictions came into effect. The businesses have already spent a substantial amount responding to the legal action, and they are worried about what mounting costs will mean for their future.
We are asking for a fair, practical solution that respects nearby residents while allowing these established shops to receive deliveries and serve their customers. You can sign the petition to add your support.
This Crowdfunder campaign will help the shops meet their mounting legal costs. Funds received will be used only for legal and court costs relating to this dispute. Any balance remaining once the proceedings and related costs have concluded will be donated in full to local charities.
If you can, please donate and share this page. Thank you for standing with two local businesses that mean so much to our community.
