Aim

We’re kick starting fundraising this year to increase activity in Peterborough. Help us expand and develop girls & boys cricket by donating.

Who are we?

Peterborough Town CC is a large, friendly, diverse and successful club running 6 senior weekend teams and junior teams from age 9 to 19 and is run and managed by volunteers. We are proud to be at the heart of our local community representing the diverse backgrounds of Peterborough and it is the "community feel" that we believe makes our club so special to our members and visitors.

The cricket club is ECB Clubmark accredited, providing a sustainable, safe, family friendly welcoming club environment and is part of the City of Peterborough Sports Club, which includes Hockey, Squash, Bowls and Tennis.

We run ten junior teams including four girls teams. We pride ourselves on having a large and successful junior section where we run the ECB flagship All Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes. Many of our juniors over the years have graduated to our senior teams; a key objective to ensure the long term sustainability of our club.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Peterborough Town Cricket Club (PTCC) have accepted a conditional offer from Sport England Movement Fund for matched funding. Our aim is to expand inclusive participation in cricket—specifically by increasing girls’ cricket pathways and enhancing engagement with culturally diverse communities across Peterborough.

The recent growth in junior cricket has placed strain on our existing facilities and our strategic plan is to create additional artificial cricket wickets so we can hold more games, for boys and girls concurrently. We are also exploring upgrading to a hybrid wicket which have capacity to hold more games than traditional grass-only wickets.

This project, as a whole, will remove key barriers to participation, create welcoming and safe spaces to be active, and support inactive or underrepresented groups to experience the physical, social, and mental wellbeing benefits of sport.

Sport England’s Movement Fund supports projects that help inactive people become active, keep people active, and increase activity levels, with a particular focus on groups who traditionally face barriers—girls aged 5–16 and people from culturally diverse communities are explicitly identified priority groups. We need to raise £15,000 to secure the additional £15,000 Sport England funding.

How we’ll spend the money raised

  • Expand girls-only cricket programmes for ages 5–16, including taster sessions, coaching blocks and entry-level soft ball and hard-ball cricket.
  • Develop culturally inclusive community cricket sessions, co-designed with local community groups to remove social and cultural barriers to participation.
  • Upgrade training facilities and purchase new equipment to create safe, inclusive, and flexible activity spaces—supported as eligible by Movement Fund criteria, which allow investment in equipment and refurbishing or upgrading facilities to enhance activity spaces.
  • Target and train additional female coaches and volunteers to build long-term capacity, aligned with the Fund’s support for developing new capabilities and leadership skills.
  • Increase the number of inactive participants engaging in 30+ minutes of weekly activity, one of Sport England’s top‑priority outcomes.
