Increase baking capacity and improve working conditions at our Cambridge roastery to meet demand sustainably.

More Bakes. Lighter Work. Wider Kollective.
Over the past few months, many of you will have noticed the same thing — we’ve been selling out of bakes earlier in the day.
That’s a good problem to have. But it also shows we’ve reached our limits.
Right now, our capacity isn’t keeping up with demand. We’re reaching the limits of what we can produce day to day, and the work itself is becoming more physically demanding than it needs to be.
We don’t want to push harder. We want to work better.
What We’re Doing
We’re raising £54,000 to strengthen the roastery properly — increasing baking capacity, improving working conditions, and making the space more sustainable as we move into our busiest season.
Rather than seeking outside investment, we’re choosing to build this with the community around us.
We could continue building toward this gradually ourselves, but doing so would take years.
In the meantime, demand would continue to outpace capacity, pressure on the team would remain higher than it should be, and we would be more likely to make short-term compromises rather than the right long-term decisions.
Community backing allows us to make these improvements now — at the point they are most needed — and build the next chapter properly.
How We Got Here

Kerb began in 2020 as a small riverside kiosk during lockdown.
With steady local support, we moved into a museum coffee shop and now operate our own roastery and bakery space in Cambridge.
Every stage has been built slowly, with the community around it.
The People Behind the Work

The bakery and roastery are run by a small core team, working day to day to keep things moving.
If you’ve had something from the oven, there’s a good chance it’s come through Ewelina and Shaun, who handle most of the baking day to day.
As demand has grown, the physical side of the work has become more demanding than it needs to be.
This campaign is about making that work more sustainable — not by asking more of the team, but by improving the way the space supports them.
Where the Money Goes
More Bakes
Additional ovens, proving and storage equipment, and production tools to help us increase baking capacity and meet demand more consistently.
Lighter Work
Improved extraction, ventilation, and ergonomic workspace upgrades to create a healthier, more sustainable working environment for the team.
Doing the Work Properly
Electrical and infrastructure works needed to support expanded production safely, reliably, and for the long term.
Light & Space
Improved lighting, layout, and workspace organisation to make the roastery brighter, calmer, and more functional day to day.

The Kollective
Alongside this, we’ll be running a series of small-group sessions in the space — including brewing, baking, and roasting — as well as a 30-person gathering called The Assembly.
These are designed to keep the space open, shared, and connected to the people who support it.
Closing
If Kerb has been part of your week, we’d be grateful for your support.
Thank you for being part of what we’ve built so far — and what comes next.
More bakes.
Lighter work.
Wider kollective.
