❤️ Why We’re Doing This

We’re Mooring Coffee Co, a family‑run business with a simple but powerful mission: to create a SEN‑friendly café hub where children, parents, and adults with special educational needs can meet, eat, and relax in a calm, safe, and completely non‑judgmental space.

This will be a café designed with sensory needs at its core — quieter, gentler, and more predictable than typical hospitality environments. A place where families can breathe, connect, and feel understood.

For many neurodiverse families, everyday spaces can be overwhelming. We want to change that by building a café hub that feels like a community home.

Our café hub will offer:

• A safe, sensory‑considerate space for children and parents with SEN needs

• Inclusive employment opportunities for people with ADHD, autism, and other neurodiverse conditions

• Free barista training sessions to build confidence, skills, and community

• Free coffee‑roasting workshops to inspire creativity and hands‑on learning

• DJ, dance, and fitness workshops for children and parents

• A welcoming environment where neurodiverse families can meet without fear of judgment or overwhelm

This isn’t just a café — it’s a community anchor.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why This Matters to Us

Our desire to build this space comes from lived experience.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD after years of struggling without answers. Three of our seven children are autistic and/or have ADHD. We know first hand how isolating it can feel when everyday environments aren’t built with neurodiversity in mind.

We’ve felt the challenges, the overwhelm, and the lack of suitable spaces. We’ve also felt the joy of finding places where our children can simply be themselves.

We want to create that place — for our family, and for yours.

Expand the van, attend more community events and SEN-focused activities, and start building partnerships with local families, organisations and support groups.

Put funding towards securing a suitable location and the equipment, furnishings and facilities needed to begin creating our permanent SEN-friendly café and community hub.
