The additional funds will be allocated towards expanding our program offerings, including the establishment of an over-50s club. This strategic allocation will enhance our community impact and provide valuable services to a broader demographic.
Moor Lane has opened a Youth Club is dedicated to providing culturally appropriate activities for youth aged 6 to 20, a specific minority within the Manchester Jewish community, whose families emigrated from Middle Eastern countries, enduring persecution in places like Iran, Iraq, and Syria. Many of these youth come from large, low-income families, facing additional challenges.
Since our establishment in 2019, with over 60 young attendees weekly, our goal has been to create a welcoming and supportive youth center. We aim to foster mental health, prevent isolation, and facilitate integration into society while promoting learning, socialization, and mutual support.
Our project involves constructing a rear single-storey extension to enhance our facilities, providing more flexible space to upgrade equipment and accommodate a growing number of young participants. We also prioritize energy efficiency, incorporating features like heat pumps and solar panels to reduce environmental impact and save long-term costs.
This project will significantly improve the lives of our beneficiaries by allowing us to acquire better equipment, fostering a sense of ownership and community among the youth. It will also offer space for multi-generational events and outreach to other community groups, such as an over-50s club, thereby enhancing community impact.
