We're fundraising to cover production costs for our first film 'Moonshed', a film inspired by family love & the impact of dementia.
ABOUT THE FILM (the story)
Moonshed will be a touching, fictional film about grandchildren getting to know a granddad with a cosmic past and embracing who he is now.
The film highlights the impact of dementia on the family and how we can love and connect with dignity. The film celebrates a child's love for their elders and highlights the important relationships that we have in life.
The film has been written by Roo Williams, inspired by the magical world that her own grandparents created for her as a child.....and her love for space!
ABOUT ROOSTAR FILMS
Created and led by Roo Williams, Roostar Films in a new film production company inviting actors, artists, film makers to collaborate and create short films. They are based in Kent.
This isn't Roo's first film! Previously Roo has produced and filmed 3 short award-winning films in her twenties under the name of Kanga Reel Productions. After a few years collecting stories and life experiences, Roo now returns to her love of filmmaking armed with a book of inspiration and new ideas to re-tell through the medium of film.
ABOUT THE 'MOONSHED' PROJECT
Moonshed will be the first script that Roostar Films to be realised in film. It will be created by a team of talented artists and creatives, working on a voluntarily basis for the love of filmmaking and working collaboratively.
The script has inspired a range of collaborators already, including a full cast, Assistant Director Jon Fox, costume designer and production team. Everybody is invested in this project to help develop their skills and experience that may lead to future film-making opportunities.

WHAT YOUR MONEY WILL DO
As a non-funded, voluntarily project, all members of the company will be freely offering their time and talents to make this production. However, we would like to a small and modest budget to help pay for some of the costumes, props and scenery required to create a professional looking film. There is a lack of grant funding for film projects like these - and so we appeal for help.
We are seeking any donations to help fund the film's production but we also welcome you to join us and watch the world premiere of 'Moonshed' in a gorgeous venue! To do this, grab a limited, pre-sale ticket to our augural screening on 4 December 2023 via the Crowdfunder's Rewards.
We will also be donating some of the funds to Alzheimer's UK
