Be a part of the Montol magic! Help us raise £2,500 for bonfires and torches, safety and security. Let’s light up Penzance together!

Every year on December 21st, Montol transforms our little home town into a magical wonderland of Guize Dancing and actual dancing, music and mayhem.

From the Sundowner on Causewayhead to the Burning of the Sun up at the Rec, from the Revels in Chapel Street to the chalking of the Mock down by the sea, it’s a living tradition - shaped by our community, for our community.

No scripts. No rules. Just people quietly preparing in secret - making costumes, practising, crafting lanterns, practising - and then coming together to create something extraordinary. 

It’s mysterious, joyful, and deeply rooted in who we are.

We are true believers - we are the Mighty Montol (and we’re not wrong).

But behind all the fire, feathers and fiddles — it’s just us lot, drummers and dreamers dancing in the rain - along with our hundred piskies locked in our barn - spinning straw into gold again.

Costs are always going up but as we all know, this year has been hard.

We’re incredibly, extremely and astonishingly grateful for the support from Penzance Council but we urgently need to raise £2,500 to make Montol 26 safe, inclusive, and unforgettable.

Your support will help us:

Build safe, beautiful bonfires

Provide free torches, more torches and safety gear for the torchlit procession

Ensure professional stewards and road closures to keep everyone safe and cared for

Your help will mean this year there will be more music, more dancing, a Montol Mummers' Play, and even more Montol magic!
