Allow for economically deprived children in and parents in Hackney access financial and budgeting skills to build financial security.
Money Matters:
Poor, No More!
Our mission at Money Matters is to educate people struggling financially, by helping them access financial skills and tools into becoming more secure and financially independent.
How are we going to do it? We are going to operate biweekly workshops for children ages 11-14 and have a parent's weekly seminar during weekends.
You may be asking, why does our project matter? The project matters as it will end the cycle of poverty, where struggling families miss the knowledge and skills to be financially independent, thus falling into debt and becoming dependant on charity. This is especially prone to happen in times of economic crisis, and Money Matters is here to change that story, we would like to build a story, starting with educating young people as well as adults, by giving them the skills and tools to build pathways to better employment and future prosperity.

What impact are we hoping to have? At Money Matters, we hope to build up tools so they can impact prosperity and future employment.
What makes our project unique? Knowledge is power and we break the cycle of poverty by giving them the confidence and tools to make financial lifestyle changes.
What are the motivations for doing this project? The Cost-of-Living Crisis which is deeply affecting the families who are facing poverty and social isolation.
We started working on this project in Sep 2023, when the demand of servers and families being desperate. as they could not afford basic necessities and were slowly falling into debt.
Milestones achieved so far: 42 servers have accessed workshops and gained necessary skills to become savvier spenders.
What have we learned along the way? Financial expertise helps people build financial ambition and helps people by encouraging them to make more money and secure themselves financially sustainable futures.
