MOKKAH: Shoes for Women who wear larger sizes

Hi, I'm Sherene Headley, Founder and Creative Director of Mokkah, an affordable luxury brand for fashion-conscious women, who wear larger sized shoes (UK8-12/US10-14).

We are raising an initial £10,000 to kick-start our brand and produce our first collection. Working alongside British designers and craftsman, we will create high quality footwear that love.

Who we are

We are a company made up of freelance designers, fashion advisors and professional manufacturers. Together, we have a wealth of experience in production, retail, customer service and design, equipping us with the vital skills required to succeed in our venture.

Why

Mokkah, was created in direct response to my difficulty finding shoes. 

Up until about two years ago, my feet remained my biggest insecurity. I've wanted to build this brand since I was a teenager but my inability to accept myself for myself, made it impossible. No matter how much research I'd conducted and how many courses I went on, I realised that Mokkah wouldn't reach it's full potential, without me owning my voice.

I went from the girl who would hide her shoes in her bag when visiting friends houses, to someone who at networking events, would confidently throw her shoe size into the conversation.

I found that the more I networked with other women, I recognised my own experiences being recited to me. They too felt unattractive, abnormal and non-catered for - the brand mission became larger than I ever anticipated.

Mokkah is a movement. 

We aim to empower and inspire women who for a long time felt they couldn’t freely express themselves through fashion. We’re putting them (us!) at the forefront of every design and manufacturing decision; encouraging these women to step into their confident, strong and sexy selves.

How we work

Our brand promise is to create footwear that:

1.  Meets current trends. 

2. Are of a high quality.

3. Are true to fit. 

These three pillars derived directly from feedback collected from women alike. We will continue to bring our community along in our journey, inviting them to provide feedback on design and test the fit of our shoes, prior to launch. 

What we make

We are raising £10,000 to launch the Noir collection. Five different styles, all in black to suit every occasion.

Gold Studded Courts

Made using fine leather (with a man-made sole) with flat head gold stud detail. Heel: 3 inches.  

Criss-Cross Dorsay Loafer

Made from leather (with a hard-wearing man-made sole) with fixed criss-cross detail.

Strappy Heeled Sandals

Made from a mix of suede and leather (with a hard-wearing man-made sole). Heel: 3.5 inches.

Gold Plated Loafer

Made from high quality leather (with a hard-wearing man-made sole) with gold metal detail on the heel and across the shoe.

Ankle Strap Heel

Made from suede (with a man-made sole) with an asymmetric strap and gold buckle fastener. Heel: 3.5 inches.

As products sell we'll introduce the alternative prints and colour-ways, that have already been designed, along with new styles.
