Mobile Soup & Sandwich Kitchen (wee soupie)

Aim

To provide hot & cold food, Drinks and Care Packages to the homeless and those living in poverty all over Scotland

We are The Knights Templar Grand Commandery of Scotland an unincorporated charity going through the application process for our Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) number. 

We have a shared vision of what we want to do to help others in Scotland. With us being veterans and having our own disabilities we still strive to be effective and if we can make that difference to those who need our help, we will. We aim to help and support our communities with issues such as poverty, homelessness and isolation as well assisting our veterans, senior citizens and anyone in need of assistance. 

We saw there was a great gap and we wanted to have influence on the quality of life for the people we can help. Yes we might not be able to help everyone, but at least we can be effective in the life’s and families of the people we do. 

We distributed care packages in our 2021 Christmas care package campaign for the homeless. Each pack contains elements such as Soap, Toothbrush and Toothpaste, Face Cloth, Deodorant, Gloves, Woolie Hat, Hand Sanitizer, Antibacterial Wipes, Chapstick, Foil Blanket, bottled Water, Packet of Cookie Biscuits all in a drawstring waterproof reusable bag. We self-funded this and planned to make up and distribute x 70 but when family and friends heard what we were doing, they helped out and we ended up distributing x 250. We now have also secured funding to do it again by the end of March this year. This is why we desperately require a van as to reach many people as possible all over Scotland.

Until we get our SCIO number we are having to continue self-funding our organisation. We have plans to go mobile and are trying to raise enough for a small van so that we can partly convert it into a mobile soup and sandwich kitchen. All food will be prepped in kitchens and then we can go out to the homeless and those in poverty and feed and give out our care packages. 

We are looking for any help no matter how big or small and we realise with the current pandemic we understand things are tough and finances are tight. If you think you could help in any way please do.
