The Aim of my project- The Miss Kae Initiative
Miss KAE is a representative of strong empowered individual women. Using my voice, image, music and platform to inspire others whilst raising awareness of struggles women face.
Growing Up
In a Christian background, as a child I didn’t like to miss choir practice one day even though I was one of youngest attending and with my Mum being the Pastor I spent every single day in church and I always looked forward to choir practice.
How I stumbled into Music
From the age of about Four, I have been singing at every given opportunity to whomever would listen. I got complements here and there and I finally decided to take up my interest in music not knowing where I would fit In. I remember as a ten-year-old whilst living in Coventry, United Kingdom as a child after school I would hangout at my Mums Sister’s workplace until she closed from work. So I use to always play around when waiting for her so I stumbled on an office with a music studio, I was very chatty as a child so I immediately got into conversation with a lady working in the music studio. This was so long ago I can’t remember her name but she asked me to sing her a song after I told her how much I loved music. I remember I sang Ashanti- Foolish this was so long ago and as soon I started singing the other music producers in the room discontinued their conversation and instantly all eyes were on me. In that whole moment right there and then in that situation I felt at home, whilst singing and being the cynosure of all eyes that day it dawned me that I wanted to do this for a living.
What Motivates Me
Growing up I have had a hard life, but my inner strength and drive to become better person gets me through it. I always root for the underdog as I am one. My friends and family always remind me of why I must strive to work so I can succeed. I wake up everyday with this renewed drive and energy to want to do better and be a person. I’m trying to build a brand for myself representing strong individual women using my voice, image and music to inspire.
Previous Jobs
I worked as an office administrator for couple of years on and off. Then I moved to Nigeria and Interned at beat 99.9fm which gave me some exposure and insight at a well renowned radio station. I was given the opportunity to work as a voice over/hype artist working on numerous advertisements. On my return back to London I am fully focused on on the release of my debut E.P and music video.
Future Plans
Working on completing and releasing my E.P by the end off this year and shooting a music video with a listening party. One day I hope to own and run a music studio of my own. I am a dark- skinned women and I would like to motivate women like me to feel confident in their skin. The industry suffers a lack of positive focus on black women and I feel very strongly about helping to change the narrative. I want to be a face for strong brands that can influence women of colour and all women in general creating awareness for numerous campaigns. Every voice matters using my platform to raise awareness of the struggles young women face everyday through which we all can make a change.
Thankyou
Miss Kae
