To provide an outdoor learning and reflective garden at our Primary School in memory of a much loved teacher who sadly passed away in 2022.
Our aim…
To create an OUTDOOR LEARNING and REFLECTIVE peaceful garden space within the grounds of Far Forest Lea Memorial CofE Primary Academy.
It will be a dual purpose space for both learning outdoors as well as being a peaceful retreat for children to have time out to reflect and read.
At the heart of the area will be a gazebo. Allowing a class of children of any age to be outdoors and taught together comfortably, under cover. From here, they will have easy access to both our forest school and allotment growing area.

We would like to use a local company, Worcester Timber Products, to build the gazebo and they have provided us with a bespoke quotation and photographs of a similar construction.

The gazebo will be accessorised with brightly coloured cushions and decorated with bunting. Planted around it will be bee and insect loving plants and flowers. To include forget-me-nots, to represent a promise that we will always remember our much-loved teacher and friend, Miss Adele Howells.
A bit about our Primary School…
We are a small village primary school and nursery of circa 115 pupils. Our core values are to ‘nurture, learn and celebrate’.
We nurture our children by first and foremost making them feel happy and safe. Since the pandemic we have found that the children have really benefitted from being outdoors more both in terms of mental health and well-being and one of our priorities has therefore become to help the school to improve and develop the outside learning space.
We are very lucky to have a school based within the Wyre Forest area with so much nature on our doorstep. We want to further encourage this natural learning environment with our choice of planting around the gazebo.
Work has recently been undertaken by our volunteers to get our raised bed allotments up and running. Fencing has been constructed to protect them from the visiting deer. This will now allow our children to learn how to plant and grow their own fruit and vegetables without them being eaten.

Wider Community…
During their summer meetings the local Far Forest Scout Group 19th Wyre Forest share the school grounds, as they have limited space at their local scout hut. This is an important group to the village and a number of the school children attend. This group allows the children to forge friendships across the wider community of local towns and villages. This group will also benefit from the improved outdoor facilities.

Miss Adele Howells…
A much loved teacher who sadly passed away from cancer in Nov 2022, at the age of 44.
She was a key member of staff, teaching here for 16 years.
Her sudden passing hit the children, staff and wider school community hard. A ‘shining star’ lost at such a young age.
We would love to dedicate this space to her to ensure that her infectious bright, fun personality and love of learning lives on.
Who are we?…
Far Forest Primary Academy Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of 3 parent volunteers whose children attend the school.
We are a registered charity (no.1180270) and we raise funds through a variety of ways to enhance the school lives of the children whilst also having fun ourselves.
We were hit hard on our fundraising through the Covid-19 pandemic but we have been able to increase our activities over the last year and have held many successful events / activities. From our Jubilee Jamboree to Christmas Raffle, Frozen Fridays to Doughnuts for Dads but unfortunately our funds do not stretch to cover this project.
We are lucky to have a wider supportive school family who we will be calling upon to aid us later on in the project.
