We want more people to visit Newark to enjoy the independent shops and his-story of this amazing town. Help us to make their visit memorable
“Why let the facts get in the way of a good story?” Entertaining 'His-Story' tours with a bit of fact... a lot of fiction… and even more fun
Newark-on-Trent is a gem of a town – packed full of history, but it has some shocking secrets and an awful, awful past…
We’re inviting both tourists and locals alike to join an alternative tour of this very special market town. Your host, Professor Bryan, (aka writer and actor Steve Cawte) will reveal some little-known secrets, mixed together with complete and utter fibs about some of the wonderful sights which can be found around and about the town. But can you spot the fact from the fiction?
This unique experience will begin at the beautifully restored Carriages Café. Positioned right on Platform 1 of Newark Castle Station, Carriages makes the perfect meeting place for those travelling to Newark by train. The former Railway Station building dates back to 1846 has its own Victorian 'His-Story' tale. Meanwhile it is just a few minutes from Newark Castle, where King John met his dramatic death in 1216.
Home to the National Civil War Centre together with one of the finest examples of a 17th Century Queen’s Sconce, Newark is steeped in His-Story…
But these tours are not just for His-Story (or maybe we should call it Mis-Story!) buffs, the town is also home to MILLIONS of fantastic restaurants, quirky bars and cute cafes.
A Mis-Guided tour is the perfect introduction to Newark before visitors can head off and explore the town at their own leisure. This experience is not just for visitors though, even those who already live in Newark will love a little bit of His-Story.
We are inviting you to be part of launching this truly unique experience – either as a tourist, or indeed as a contributor to the tour itself. A Mis-Guided tour makes a perfect gift, and there are many options to choose from – just click REWARDS to find out more!
But this Crowdfund has to end on 14th October 2019 and once the date has passed, you’ll need to pay full price to take part. So, what are you waiting for? Not only will you be supporting the creation of a brand-new business, you’ll also go down in 'His-Story'...
The tour starts with breakfast here at Carriages:
