Time is running out! Mindful Therapies has found an exciting new home and we have just 2 weeks left to get ready to open!
The Mindful Therapies Centre
Mindful Therapies is moving to fantastic new premises in Newcastle City Centre. We are crowdfunding to renovate the space and help us to reach even more people! We open on 4th November!
Who are We?
Mindful Therapies is a not-for-profit organisation and was set up in 2013. In four years, we have taught mindfulness to over 4000 people. We currently have an amazing team of three staff, five volunteers and four counselling trainees on placement.
Quotes from participants:
“I feel more confident dealing with anxiety, I can do something about it”
'Thank you so much! Mindfulness has changed my life'
'Makes me feel ready for the day. Puts things in perspective. Helps me manage things / challenges in a better way'
“My relationships are becoming stronger”
What Do We Do?
Mindful Therapies offers affordable mindfulness and talking therapies to as many people as possible, regardless of income. Many of our classes and workshops are offered on a donation basis. We also work in partnership with charities and other organisations so that service users can attend for free. We offer:
The Project
In June we were given notice to leave our current premises, Broadacre House by 3rd November. After a long search we have found the perfect space. We will be moving into the basement of British India House in Carliol Square, Newcastle City Centre.
This is a bigger space and will allow us to do much more. The new venue will have two counselling rooms, meaning that even more people will have a space to talk, without high fees or a long waiting list.
We will also be creating a large and beautiful space for meditation and bodywork. We will be able to run regular yoga classes and creative events on a donation basis.
Finally, the new venue will have a space for meeting, chatting, drinking tea and making friends. This might involve informal discussions or larger seminars and workshops. We want to create a mindfulness hub in the heart of Newcastle!
This is the plan so far...

We aim to open the doors with a launch party on Saturday 4th November but we can’t do it without you!
Why Do We Need Your Help?
This new project is a big leap for us. Broadacre House provided affordable space for charities and social enterprises and our annual outgoings are going to increase massively. To pay for our increased rent, service charge and utilities we are going to need to find an extra £15,000 per year. Much of this will be funded by classes, courses, workshops and room hire. However, additional support from people who value the work we do will go a long way.
For this dream to become a reality we need to raise funds for renovation work. We need to build and decorate three new rooms. We need to update the stairway to create a welcoming entrance into the centre. We need to refit and equip the kitchen and we need to buy enough mats and cushions for all of our new meditators and yogis. We estimate that this will cost around £7000.
We are looking to raise £5,000 through crowdfunding to help with renovation work and to support us in our transition. There are lots of rewards you can pick up for donating.
If you care about what we do, please consider supporting us! Thank you!
