Hi, my name is Claire and I’m a community member of the Highfield estate Kettering and over the last 3 years along with member of the community we have put together some amazing free events for the community including, Easter, Halloween and this year our first Santa run. In which we have brought these events to our estate and much more with no funding, using what we have to make junk models and donations to put on amazing afternoons on for all the family’s on the estate. The estate has nothing for the community and we have since been made aware that the local Public house has become available to rent. i have since met with the brewery to post my pitch for the premises in which they are on board with opening the mikado as a community based pub renting out the function room for youth clubs, groups, events, food, fun days and much more for the family’s on the estate and surrounding areas. This estate has been left out for many years with outdated parks it has no food court or any other type of businesses or places for the family’s and only a local shop and the Mikado sit at the heart of it. Highfield needs somewhere for the family’s to come along and take part in the different activities and events which will be held to suit all ages. I want to bring the community back together again and turn the Mikado Pheasant into the place to be. This will be soul trading business open to family’s and also bringing some fun back to the estate. I help with the local schools events and have a background of helping my parents help put on country fairs. I have built up an amazing list of connections over the years and believe given the chance This will bring a big positive impact on the community for the better.
In order to make this happen we need to find a deposit and also pay for stock upfront for opening. The brewery is helping to assist us as much as they can to bring down the start up fees. Yet we still need to raise for stock, deposit and extras to make this place ready to bring some magic back to the Highfield estate. A community based public house bringing much more to our deprived estate.
An so after much consideration I have decided to ask for your help to help me bring employment opportunities, events for all the family, pool, darts and skittle teams, and more to a community who deserve to have a place to visit and enjoy at affordable prices.
