The stretch target will enable us to extend the support we already provide to our members and also help new members currently facing hardship. The rising living costs and the hostile environment policies puts migrants and refugees in a dreadful position and a little bit of support can make all the difference.
“Solidarity is giving a sense of family, sense of belonging….it gives you more strength, more hope” Bose, Migrants Organise member
Migrants Organise provides direct support to migrants and refugees who are rebuilding their lives here in the UK.
Throughout 2022 our case workers and volunteers have supported 560 people and their families to rebuild their lives here in the UK. Our members are living in isolation, in cramped accommodation and facing destitution.
We are fundraising to provide practical and essential items and support. The support we will organise from this fund includes:
- Immediate hardship relief & support to access food, toiletries and winter clothing
- Books, toys and educational items and digital access to children and their families living in cramped accommodation
- Emergency Destitution Support: including travel expenses to essential support sessions, finding emergency accommodation and other essential items
In addition to providing emergency support we work closely with members to build a sense of belonging and connection. From poetry groups, walking groups, football club, women’s group, sewing group and buddying: we unite together to build power, dignity and community.
We know that direct support is a source of power for our members and that’s why we organise a combination of advice, advocacy, training, buddying and group activities to create a safe and welcoming environment.
Together, we are building power to fight the hostile environment while also caring for our communities.
This work could not be done without you and your solidarity.
