A Tribute to Michael Wheller

Sadly, our father, Michael Wheller, recently passed away.  Instead of the traditional floral tributes, we wanted to provide an option for people to donate to a charity instead.

The Leprosy Mission

Between 1982 & 1986, he worked with the United Mission to Nepal. One of the projects he worked on was the Anandaban Hospital run by The Leprosy Mission (TLM). Leprosy is a devastating disease.  TLM supports patients, educates communities, and runs world-leading research on the disease with the hope of ending Leprosy transmission by 2035.

Devastating flash-floods and landslides

Anandaban Hospital forms the centre-point of their work in Nepal. In 2024, the hospital itself was hit by devastating monsoon flash-floods and landslides which has impacted its operation, including destroying buildings our father worked on. Joe, his son, was able to visit the hospital in 2025. He saw first-hand not only the impact of the landslides, but also the incredible work the team continues to conduct with patients and the community despite the challenges.
