Support the costs of our food aid activity - Micah Liverpool is feeding approximately 300 people per week including families and children
Micah Liverpool is providing emergency food parcels to those who need it most during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
We are a social justice charity that fights poverty in Liverpool City region, usually we run other projects including community markets and a programme to support the unemployed but since the Covid 19 pandemic we have had to put all of our resource into our Foodbank project. This funding would cover the cost of our van and our driver/stores person for the rest of the year ensuring we can collect food and deliver it to our pantry sessions during the crises.
We give around 300 parcels per week and are the largest independent foodbank in the North West. We operate our 2 food pantry sessions from local churches who give us the space free of charge. Usually we have the support of around 40 volunteers but with a lot of our volunteers being over 70 or having pre existing health conditions we are operating with only 3 staff members and a handful of volunteers who are able to support us.
During the pandemic we have been working in partnership with many support charities who rely on us to provide parcels to their vulnerable people these charities include: British red cross and asylum link and well as homeless charities and women's refuge charities. we estimate that we will give over 13000 food parcels in 2020 this has an estimated value of £156000.
Through the pandemic we have lost regular donations of food and money due do business, schools and churches being closed which makes our relationship with our food aid partners such as Fareshare, Junk-food network, Trusstle trust, Independent Food Aid Network and Feeding Liverpool vital. Our van driver is a crusial member of staff who maintains relationships with all of our key partners.
