Help Paragon Singers fund their Messiah 250 project in Bath that will bring together people of different communities through music.
Our Messiah 250 project brings together communities in Bath through music and celebrates the history of Bath’s association with Handel’s ‘Messiah’. It is a collaboration with Bath Spa University, groups of singers across Bath, historian Andrew Clarke and theatre director Tom Guthrie. Following an extended and in-depth exploration series of workshops and rehearsals over the course of seven months, it will culminate in a large-scale concert staging at St Swithin’s Church in Bath.
This project will form a major part of the academic course for film students at Bath Spa University. They will document the workshop and rehearsal process, creating a film in January 2022, which will be free for audiences to view.
As part of the 7-month project, Paragon Singers will run a series of singing workshops throughout Bath, including free workshops for young people in the city and, in partnership with charity Julian House, for homeless and vulnerable people living in Bath. The group hopes to make long lasting links, particularly with Julian House, in order to create more collaborative projects going forward.
The culmination of our project will be a performance in March 2022 from Paragon Singers and workshop guests, alongside a professional orchestra and soloists. Directed by Thomas Guthrie and conducted by Sarah Latto, this performance will be an audience immersive, concert staging.
