Mersey Wax Wraps provides a sustainable alternative to cling film. Please support me so we can support the planet and its ecosystem.

Mersey Wax Wraps provided Bees Wax Food Wraps using Organic Cotton, Organic Jojoba Oil and Organic Beeswax (Vegan wraps to follow soon). I want to help people to make small changes to their everyday life so that together we help live more sustainably and reduce our plastic consumption. Lets face it, that's probably why your still reading this!

The environmental impact of cling film is such that it is difficult to recycle; without specialized equipment they clog machines. And even when cling film is recycled, it's costlier than using virgin materials. When it ends up in landfills or incinerators, both PVC and PVDC can release a highly toxic chemical called dioxin, says the World Health Organization. In marine environments, plastic wrap contributes to a larger plastic pollution crisis, but unlike other plastics, scientists are finding that PVC and PVDC do great jobs of picking up bacteria and metals. Those contaminated pieces of microplastic then harm the fish that mistake them for food.
Beeswax wraps contain antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is also water tight and locks in moisture without letting it build up. Unlike plastic/ clingfilm, wax wraps allow food to naturally breathe thus acting like a natural barrier.
It is also claimed that the use of wax wraps prolongs the life of vegetables by as much as three days. As the beeswax wrap is not airtight, the gases naturally emitted from foods are allowed to escape. In contrast ethylene gas emitted from fruits and vegetables can quickly over-ripen, and finally rot foods stored in an airtight plastic container or bag. The ammonia gas emitted from cheese in an airtight container can quickly be re-absorbed, causing cheese to go bad quickly, use of a wax wraps allows the cheese to breathe and retain its freshness.
After use, simply wash your wrap in warm (not hot) water and leave to dry. The wraps will last for around 200 washes. When the wax has dissipated, the fabric can either be re-waxed, composted or used as a firelighter.

Cotton is one of the top four GMO crops. Nearly 90% of cotton comes from GMO sources. I choose to use Organic Cotton for my wraps as the whole purpose of my business is to help you the consumer live in a more sustainable way.

I am a mother of a toddler and wife to a very patient husband! I have been developing this business idea for a while, but now feel ready to share it with the world. It was on holiday in Abersoch earlier in the year that I met some amazing people (you know who you are) and finally got the courage to really get down to business.
Now a few months on after developing Mersey wax Wraps I am ready to share them with you guys. I have sourced some beautiful prints using Organic Cotton and will be using organic beeswax, organic Jojoba Oil and Gum Rosin(not available in organic form).
I am inviting you to be my first customers. I am currently working on bespoke fabric designs. My first one will be showcased here on Crowdfunder and has a Merseyside theme.
With the funds raised through Crowdfunder I wish to invest in creating bespoke designs, all printed on organic cotton with low impact dyes
Thank you for learning a bit more about Mersey Wax Wraps, please pledge on one of our rewards today.
