Raising money to get StroodCam back online
Get StroodCam back online...

We have been lucky enough to have had a new camera donated by the camera manufacturer.
We would like to thank everybody for their kind pledges to date. It costs £500 per year to operate the camera and the video feed so we are going to reduce the fundraising target to £750 in order that the pledges made so far can be used. This will fund StroodCam for 18 months - any additional pledges that we receive will pay for the ongoing running costs.
We will continue to raise more money to keep StroodCam running in the future.
If anybody who has pledged to date would like a refund please let us know at [email protected]
StroodCam.co.uk has been showing live video images of the Strood road crossing to Mersea Island, Essex, since 2007. The Strood is covered by the sea on high tides and the webcam on StroodCam.co.uk allows visitors to see when the road is passable.
The website gets around 3,000 unique visitors a month and provides a valuable service to residents and visitors to the Island.
The site has been running since 2007 but the camera has recently broken and cannot be repaired. A new replacement camera will cost £1500.
Until now the camera and running costs have been privately funded but this is no longer an option.
We are seeking donations to fund a replacement camera and running costs for 12 months.
StroodCam is not run for profit. All monies received will be used for the required costs to get the camera back up and running.
This project successfully funded on 18th April 2015
