On the 5th January 2021 we'd raised £1,545 with 63 supporters in 35 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Mental Health Swims is a social enterprise tackling mental health stigma through the healing power of cold water and community. During lockdown we grew from one monthly meet to sixty and have peer support groups across the whole of the UK thanks to the help of our incredible team of volunteers.
We offer safe spaces to people who live with mental health challenges to dip a toe in the water and feel the benefits of being with others outdoors.
With your help we would be able to offer
- Mental health first aid training for all our lovely swim hosts so they can confidently support those who are really struggling.
- Online water safety courses to anyone who volunteers with Mental Health Swims because keeping safe in the water is our top priority.
- Free introductions to cold water swimming with trained coaches so that participants feel confident about joining our peer support groups.
Our most asked question is 'where is my nearest meet' and right now the answer isn't easy to give. This is because we have grown so quickly that we rely on social media and word of mouth but understand that social media is not for everyone and can be challenging for peoples mental health especially during a pandemic. A portion of the money raised would be used to create an online platform with the tools and resources that would be a hub for all things Mental Health Swims. It would allow us to work with talented experts who are specialists in accessibility.
Thank you so much for your help!
