I am trying to raise £1000 to donate to MIND mental health charity in hope that people lives can be saved by the support of their volunteers
My name is Darren Street, I am 45 years old, married with 5 children. I do not hide the fact that as a child I was abhorrently sexually abuse from the ago of 11 to 15 years old, I got justice and my abuser was imprisoned in 2005. It is fair to say my mental health has suffered considerably over the years. Only today I heard as to the sudden passing of a HMP Prison Officer on the Isle of Wight whilst he was at work. Day in day out these brave HMP Officers work tirelessly to protect us from some of the countries most vile offenders and I cannot imagine the physical let alone the mental strength required by these men and women within our prison service just to turn up to work, these officers clearly put their own health at risk before thinking of themselves. As a country we need to respect the HMP officers who do this tough job and we need to ensure that they receive the highest mental health support. Rest in Peace to the officer and thoughts with the family at this tragic time.
