Target reached!
We will have more counsellors to reach more young people
We will have more counsellors to reach more young people
Experts are predicting a tsunami of mental health problems in young people we need more funds to reach these young people in crisis.
As a charity YPI has been successfully delivering community based support to young people, parents and families for the past 20 years. We provide free mental health and well-being support to young people aged 11 to 25 years old through a range of interventions including 1-to-1 counselling sessions our goal is to equip these young people with the building blocks and tools they need to cope with mental health issues and to go on to lead a full life. Without intervention many of these children go on to commit crimes, suicide or become socially isolated.
Key facts
One in six people are aged 10–19 years.
Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10–19 years.
Half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age but most cases are undetected and untreated.
Globally, depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15-19-year-olds.
The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.
Our goal is early intervention and to empower these young people to have the tools and strategies they need. Metal Health issues are now becoming more widely accepted but the resources that are needed to cope with these are not in place. We would love to be able to see all our young people within a month but need your help to achieve this.
