We recently opened project called MEN ON THE EDGE working with men in crisis of many kinds and need to create a wellbeing garden there.
Our Men on the Edge project has recently opened to help men in those crisis times in their lives when they need support. People who are bereaved, in poverty, have mental health issues. are disabled, unemployed, homeless, veterans, men who have suffered abuse or ptsd, have difficult family lives and relationships. We are providing a safe place for people to come to, where they can feel they can belong, and where they will get some instant help and support and ongoing support in crisis times. Part of the Edge property is a green space and we want to create a wellbeing garden where men and women can sit and enjoy a lovely green space with seating areas and therapeutic aspects like water features and sensory items, plants and other items.
There is such a need for this project in the area we are working in where there have been 12 suicides (mostly men) in the last 18 months that we know of. We want to make a difference to the people of the community through this project and improve health and wellbeing, reduce isolation, bring people together and help them to recover from trauma, crisis and life situations. We want a place which bring them peace, comfort, strength and a place which makes people smile.
We have a dedicated team of volunteers, sessional care and support workers and leaders who want to make a big difference to other people.
