Raising the initial £500 means we can have greens on the ballot a the election. But ...
We aim to raise £500 to fight the General Election 2024. With no corporate sponsors, your support matters!
We would like everyone across Melton and Syston to have the chance to vote Green in the 2024 election. We have already selected a great candidate Alastair McQuillan who is ready to stand up for our community and be a powerful voice for you.
To achieve this, we need your help. The Green Party, which unlike other political parties rejects donations from private interests, runs on crowdfunders and people-power to keep us accountable to you. We need to raise £500 just to get the Green Party on the ballot paper.
The Green Party does not rely on big donors like the other parties, so we appreciate any help from members and supporters.
Standing in the new Melton and Syston constituency is Alastair McQuillan. An experienced campaigner most recently Alastair has been leading local campaigns to maintain Melton's community sports facilities and against pollution in the river Wreak. He will provide a strong local voice for the people of the area at this election.
Very few members of the public have heard of Short Money – most of us are unaware that every vote for the Green Party – our vote – translates into funding for MPs of our party during the next Parliament... even if a Green voter doesn’t live in the areas our MPs are based!
This is why every donation made has a double impact, and it could even have a triple impact:
In addition, any surplus funds after the General Election will be used by the local Green Party to help finance our 2025 local election candidates.
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general Green Party funds.
