Aim

We're raising funds to help us support those in need in our local community.

Who are we, and what is our project about?

We are a foodbank in Medway providing 3 day food parcels to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of the UK-wide Trussell community of foodbanks, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK, but we are a charity in our own right and are self-funding.

Our clients are referred to us by over 130 local and national agencies. We work in partnership with Citizens Advice Medway to employ Foodbank Advisers who can offer professional advice to our clients.

We have 140 amazing volunteers who offer kindness and compassion, to our clients and support our operations in our warehouse and offices.

We started our work in 2011 and over the last few years we have sadly seen increases in people needing foodbank support.

We hope and campaign for a time when foodbanks are no longer needed in the UK.

We are looking for funding through the Aviva Communities Fund – Financial Wellbeing funding stream as our work is focused around improving the financial wellbeing of all our clients. We run a Financial Inclusion Project employing 2 Foodbank Advisers in partnership with Citizens Advice Medway. Through the project we can offer early intervention support to foodbank clients to help them maximise incomes, feel more financially secure and in control of their money.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are always looking to build and diversify  our funding to ensure that we can be resilient in these difficult economic times.

Core funding like this helps to support our day-to-day work meaning that we can get on with helping those in need who are referred into us.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Funding will be used for:

Purchasing stock for food parcels

Supporting our office/admin costs

How you can help

There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:

1. Make a donation

Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.

2. Spread the word

Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.

3. Volunteer with us

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "I want to volunteer my time or expertise" on our project page.
