Aviva Cost of Living Boost has provided £2,243 of match funding
We need to cover the lease costs of our warehouse next year. Our warehouse is vital to our operation as we sadly see increased foodbank use.
Medway Foodbank has been helping those facing financial crisis in Medway since 2011.
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Sadly we have seen huge increases in foodbank usage in the last few years. This has meant that we have had to lease a much larger warehouse. This has meant greatly increased lease costs and the money that we hope to raise with Aviva will go towards these warehouse lease costs.
We hope for a time when foodbanks are no longer needed but until then our small staff team and 130+ amazing volunteers will continue to support those facing financial pressures in our community.
A couple of feedback messages from our clients:
'Thank you for all of your help in our time of need. You have done so much for us and stepped up and provided us with immediate support. You made me believe that there are some good people and good organisations out there.'
'I would first like to say Thank you.... I can’t tell you enough how thankful we all are. My girls are so happy. It actually made me cry with happiness to see their massive smiles, happy and laughing, priceless. They are having a bath with the treat of a bath bomb that was in the foodbank parcel. Thank you once more, I’m so grateful.'
