Meaning — Theatre Revolts Tonight

Aim: We are aiming to do an immersive theatre performance. The play will be performed on Aug 11th-17th at C-Arts Theatre in Edinburgh.

"Meaning" is an original contemporary avant-garde performance art piece that delves into the theme of "theatricality and the significance of theater." Through multi-linear narratives and multimedia stage language, it explores what should be preserved and discarded in theatrical art within the current context. The work integrates traditional theatrical performance with contemporary experimental elements, aiming to break the boundaries between the audience and the stage, thereby creating an immersive viewing experience. The production comprises a cast of 10 actors and a crew of 15 members. The C-Arts Theatre in Edinburgh has entered into a contractual agreement with the production team for a seven-performance run, scheduled from August 11th to 17th.

All funds raised will be exclusively allocated to cover production expenses and travel costs for the Edinburgh performance. The production team comprises 15 students from East 15. Given that the theater rental has already incurred a cost of £4,500, I am seeking a maximum funding allocation of £6,000 to accommodate the substantial production expenses. This financial support will significantly alleviate the production budget and travel expenses for all cast members. I am aware that £6000 is a ton, but the Edinburgh Festival means the world to us, so thanks a million for your support!  If we can’t reach it, hopefully we can get minimum £3000 .Your assistance in this matter would be most gratefully acknowledged.

Our participation in the Edinburgh International Festival stems from our profound passion for theatrical arts. Our production delves into the evolution of drama from antiquity to modernity, exploring the significance of contemporary theatre, the intricate relationship between diverse theatrical forms and their audiences, as well as their broader societal implications. We believe that a successful presentation at this prestigious festival would not only be a tremendous honor for each of us but also serve as an exceptional platform to showcase the artistic excellence of the East 15 Acting School to a global audience.

The rental fee for the theater has already amounted to £4,500. Additionally, we require a budget allocation for props, costumes, and promotional printing. Given the substantial number of cast and crew members involved, travel and accommodation expenses will constitute a significant financial burden. While we have each made every effort to raise the necessary funds, without your assistance, this endeavor would prove exceedingly challenging for us as students.

Where will the money go?

If we hit £6000, it will be

we will cover the theatre rental fee by ourselves. 

If we are lucky enough to raise more than we expected, the extra money will be used for the actors’ transportation and accommodation expenses.
