First target reached!

We will deliver Social Eating events twice a month.

Aim: Monthly community eating events, providing meals, refreshments & activities to those struggling with isolation, loneliness or food poverty

The Social Action Hub

We bring people together by carrying out consultations, identifying emerging needs, organising social action projects, delivering services and providing facilities that make a difference to our local community, specifically to vulnerable adults, families and children on low incomes or who are isolated and lonely.

The Social Action Hub creates and inspires community action that addresses the social concerns of our time within our local communities and supports the development of these activities in three ways by:

- Empowering & supporting individuals of all ages to learn, develop, grow and contribute to society

- Removing financial barriers to engagement by attracting funding that supports the delivery of facilities, services and projects

Our charity has been operating since 1994 and is now working with the grandchildren of the children we originally started working with. We operate the majority of our work from a centre in the heart of a North Nottinghamshire ex-mining community, one of the 10% most highly deprived in the UK.

Our team

We engage 23 volunteers, 5 Trustees,  9 part time staff and 3 full time staff who come from the local area and have a passion and a commitment to supporting the local community.

Our project vision

M.E.A.L.S (Meet, Eat, Affordable Living & Socialising) is to bring people together in a friendly, socialable space, providing healthy meals and activities, including learning how to cook on a budget, signposting and advocacy to specialist services, access to a range of learning and volunteering opportunities. We aim to reduce social isolation, improve individuals mental health and an opportunity to eat a varied, health meal that is affordable and easy for people to cook at home.

Funds Raised

The funds raised will pay for the running costs of the venue, the cost of food and refreshments for up to 25 people at each event and a proportion of staff wages for the administration of the project.
