Support Meals Collective to continue delivering freshly cooked meals to those affected by the pandemic!

My name is Hana and I’m the founder of Meals Collective. I try to help our community by providing good, healthy, nutritious food.
Meals Collective was started by myself and John about two months ago. We don't know how everything will end, but as far as we see it, more and more people are struggling to get food, especially freshly cooked meals. In the last couple of weeks we’ve seen a steep rise in demand.
Our efforts go towards providing meals to more people, but for this we need your help.

Meals collective need to raise funds in order to:
Any support is greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

Based in East End of Glasgow , Meals Collective started providing free healthy meals to anyone affected by the pandemic at the end of March 2020. Having established close links with supermarkets and community resources such as FareShare, we use every bit of donated surplus food to create nutritious and delicious freshly cooked meals, including dessert!
We have grown to now provide food in 12 Glasgow postcodes! We would love to help more.
We've built a small community some of whom really rely on us now. We have grown from distributing 45 meals a week, to almost 150. We have also distributed over 100 food parcels to individuals and families struggling at this time. We have included Halal and vegetarian meals to our menus.
One of the things we have loved on our journey is the close relationships we have formed with other local organisations and with those we deliver meals to.
We are now part of a wider community of organisations and groups who share food donations, skills and ideas. Any food we cannot use, we pass on to food banks and they do the same. This way, we are all working together with the shared goal of providing direct support to those in need.
We have come to know the individuals that rely on our food. For many, it’s their only hot meal of the day. The other aspect of our service is that we don’t ask any questions, we just deliver food to those who request it. Some are simply overwhelmed, struggling to keep up with cooking and are happy to make a donation to have a hot delicious homemade meal delivered to brighten up their day.
We are extremely grateful to all our volunteers who have helped. We feel we have now created a close group of people. From a team of two, Hana and John, Meals Collective has been working with 10 other volunteers. It is encouraging to see everyone pitching in to support our local community.
People seem to enjoy and appreciate the sense of community it can bring. It gives a lot of people a sense of purpose especially during this tough time.
Meals Collective is the Glasgow branch of The National Food Service and you can read more about our common vision on their website.
Meals Collective wants to build on the strengths of the community relations and continue to work closely with supermarkets, businesses, charities and local authorities to adapt to the changing environment together to help our community thrive.
We don't know what the future might bring, but we are working towards developing a sustainable, flexible and proactive approach. We aim to strengthen communities by improving their well being and building on their capacity for resilience by offering good, healthy, nutritious community food.
